Our Team
Makelaardij Texel Vastgoed is an experienced real estate agency on the island. In fact, we were the first professional real estate agents on Texel. Our approach is goal-oriented, with a healthy mix of tradition and innovation. With many years of experience, we can offer expert advice and guidance in buying or selling property. Our expertise goes beyond the housing market. We specialize in commercial real estate, hospitality properties, and agricultural land. No less than 85% of Texel’s commercial real estate is managed through our agency.
Joost Coutinho
Joost Coutinho (1960) knows the island like no one else. In 1995, Joost was sworn in as a real estate agent/appraiser. Since 2010, he has been co-owner and director of Makelaardij Texel Vastgoed in Den Burg, where he also began his career. Joost was the first real estate agent on Texel to be registered with the SCVM in both the Residential and Commercial Real Estate registers.
Driven and knowledgeable, he guides private buyers and sellers as well as entrepreneurs through real estate transactions. “I find it a rewarding challenge every time to work on behalf of a client. What are their wishes, what does the home or commercial property need to offer, and how can we achieve the best result? Our team does everything to make sure the client leaves satisfied.”
Martin Trap
Martin Trap (1965) was born and raised on Texel and is a well-known figure on the island. He began his real estate career in 2000 and soon after joined Makelaardij Texel Vastgoed. Since 2010, he has been co-owner and director, together with Joost Coutinho, of the island’s largest real estate agency. His extensive network, deep local knowledge, enthusiasm, and personal commitment allow Martin to provide outstanding support to his clients and excel in his role as intermediary between buyer and seller.
Martin knows exactly what’s happening on the Texel housing market. He also has in-depth expertise in recreational real estate. “Buying a (second) home isn’t just about viewing a property and signing an agreement. There’s a lot involved. It takes expertise that buyers often don’t have. That’s why it’s reassuring when people know they can rely on me. I’m happy to guide them. As a real estate agent, integrity is key. Clients are entitled to honest advice and proper support. And that’s exactly what we provide.”

Tip from the real estate agent
A good start with recreational property
Interested in a holiday home on Texel? Perhaps you’ve seen something on our website, or you have a preferred location in mind. Our tip: always visit the property first to get a good impression of the home and/or the holiday park. After that, we’ll gladly advise you on all aspects of recreational property—from tax regulations to zoning plans and park terms.
